The Owls looked to be on course for all three points when Fernando Forestieri put them 1-0 up in the first half, but Ipswich's teenage prospect Andre Dozzell scored on his Tractor Boys debut to give Mick McCarthy's men a share of the spoils at Hillsborough.
The result leaves Wednesday five points clear of seventh placed Cardiff City, meaning that Wednesday are still in cruise control for a play-off place despite the draw.
Manager Carlos Carvalhal will be disappointed with the result, but as long as the Owls remain in the play-off places, Wednesday are in contention for a dream end to the season.
After the final whistle at Hillsborough, Wednesday players took to Twitter to give their reactions to the draw, with one word popping up on numerous occasions: disappointed.
Meanwhile, midfielder Alex Lopez praised the 'great teamwork' from Wednesday, suggesting that the club's objective of securing a play-off place is moving closer even after dropping two points on Saturday.
Disappointed not to take 3 points today thought we deserved to win but another game Tuesday thanks for your support #WAWAW— barry bannan (@bazzabannan25) April 16, 2016
Disappointed not to get the 3 points today. We had to fight as a team and showed a good reaction to last weeks result. Onto Tuesday @swfc— Jack Hunt (@Hunty32) April 16, 2016
