The Tottenham Hotspur talent has had some stand-out moments for Tottenham Hotspur.
This week has seen Tottenham Hotspur talent Dele Alli have his nomination for the PFA Young Player of the Year award was confirmed.
In the wake of his nomination he has had an informal chat with Sky Sports’ Soccer AM about his season and in particular his penchant for a nutmeg.
The Spurs midfielder has picked up a reputation for putting the ball between opponent’s legs and even his teammates in training or before kick-off.
He was asked about his favourite nutmeg of the season so far and Alli said it was one he pulled off in pre-season, against former Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric, that is currently his favourite:
“Obviously playing a lot of street football nutmegs were quite a big thing. Then at school everyone was trying to nutmeg each other and it is just something that has come into my game naturally.
“The Modric one (is my favourite). Obviously because he used to play for Tottenham as well.”
He was also asked about his magnificent goal against Crystal Palace earlier this season. The strike is already being considered as the outright contender for goal of the season and Alli was asked to guess how many times he has watched it. Rather than feign modesty he admitted watching it a lot:
“(I watch it) Constantly. A fair old few.
“No (not triple figures) I would probably say about 76 times.”
Alli has had a splendid season at Spurs and he has certainly earned the right to look back on his season with a smile.
Hopefully he will also top things off with some silverware.
