Villa were officially relegated from the Premier League after losing 1-0 at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
Brad Guzan 6.5/10 – A tad slow to react to Marcus Rashford’s first-half goal but made some smart saves over the course of the afternoon to keep Villa in the game until the end.
Alan Hutton 6/10 – Defended well but his crossing kept letting him down on the few occasions he managed to get forward.
Ciaran Clark 6/10 – Failed to track Rashford’s run in the lead-up to the goal but was otherwise solid, putting in some well-timed challenges and big blocks.
Joleon Lescott 6/10 – Like Clark, the skipper didn’t do a lot wrong overall but seemed oblivious to Rashford’s presence in the box before the goal.
Aly Cissokho 5/10 – Afforded Antonio Valencia far too much space out wide, including when the Ecuadorian set up the winner, and offered next to nothing going forward.
Leandro Bacuna 6/10 – Put in a decent defensive shift but did little in terms of attacking. His Champions League comments look more and more laughable with each game that passes.
Ashley Westwood 6/10 – Did plenty of running but his lack of creativity was painfully evident once again.
Idrissa Gana 6/10 – Impressed with his work rate as usual but wasn’t decisive enough when it came to pushing forward and threatening United’s goal.
Kieran Richardson 5/10 – Gave Cissokho little defensive support on the left flank and was invisible in the final third. Hauled off for Gestede with eight minutes remaining.
Scott Sinclair 5.5/10 – Threatened with his pace on the rare moments he got on the ball but made little impact overall.
Jordan Ayew 6.5/10 – Worked diligently up top but was let down by a distinct lack of support. The chances are he’ll be back in the Premier League next season with another club.
Rudy Gestede (Richardson 82) 6.5/10 – Denied an equaliser soon after his introduction by an excellent challenge from Daley Blind before hitting the post with a header only minutes later.
