The West Ham defender showcased his talents with a fantastic training ground strike.

West Ham United defender James Tomkins scored only the 11th goal of his 10-year Hammers career on Wednesday night against Manchester United.

The Essex born defender, 27, has hardly been prolific in front of goal throughout his time at Upton Park, but he gave everyone a sneak peak of what he is capable with by posting a video of his training ground wonder strike to social media network - Twitter this morning:

Tomkins has made 23 Premier league appearances for the East London outfit this term, and has been deployed in both right-back and centre-back positions.

His versatility was vitally important for West Ham as they suffered a mid-season defensive injury crisis, and helped them maintain an impressive league position, and they currently sit sixth in the table.

Tomkins' fantastic display of technique has showcased his impressive repertoire, and has proven that defending isn't his only strength.

West Ham travel to league leaders Leicester City on Sunday afternoon, hoping to dent the host's title aspirations, and further enhance their own prospects of reaching the Champions League spots.
