Former West Ham United defender Tony Gale suggested on the Sky Sports Now show on Sky Sports News HQ on Friday morning (broadcast from 10am, April 15) that Roberto Martinez should remain the Everton manager next season.
“I still think they (Everton) should stick with him (Martinez),” said the Englishman. “In the end it will be good.”
Martinez has been in charge of Everton since the summer of 2013 and is rated highly as a manager, but he has come under pressure this season.
Given the squad that Everton have at the moment, they should be at least pushing for a top-six spot in the Premier League.
The Merseyside outfit, though, have progressed to the semi-finals of the FA Cup and have a chance of winning the prestigious cup competition this campaign.
Everton need to keep faith in Martinez, but at the same time the Spaniard needs to make his defence better and make it tighter at the back.
The Toffees will take on Southampton at Goodison Park in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
