The Aston Villa striker is set to miss out the next three games after being declared unfit.
The striker has endured a frustrating campaign as his team have been relegated to the Championship, with just 15 appearances and one goal to his name so far.
He is now set to miss three of Villa’s five remaining games this season as he has been sent on a personal fitness programme to get back up to scratch.
The news is just the latest disastrous one to come from Villa Park this season, and Savage has criticised both the club and player for allowing this situation to develop.
“It’s an absolute shambles at Aston Villa, what is going on?” he told Fletch and Sav.
“Why have the club let it go that far to see their captain now in April, think that he’s got to go away to get fit.”
“Also, why does he go away to Dubai instead of getting fit? To be in a position now in April that you have to go on a two-week training regime, it’s ridiculous.”
It will now be interesting to see if Agbonlahor stays at the club next season once they are relegated to the Championship.
A fire sale of players is expected at the club as they seek to reduce the wage bill and start afresh following this disastrous campaign.
Agbonlahor is probably among the top earners at the club, and given his best years now appear to be behind him, he may be among the first to leave as a result.
