Gary Lineker reacts on Twitter to Sunderland win, Terry Butcher names pivotal figure

Sunderland won against Norwich City in the Premier League on Saturday.

Tottenham Hotspur legend Gary Lineker has taken to social networking site Twitter to give his reaction to Sunderland’s win against Norwich City away from home on Saturday afternoon.

Sunderland returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a 3-0 victory over fellow relegation candidates Norwich at Carrow Road.

Fabio Borini put the Black Cats in the lead from the penalty spot on 41 minutes, and Jermain Defoe doubled the advantage on 53 minutes.

Duncan Watmore wrapped up the scoring for Sunderland in the first minute of injury time.

Despite the win against Norwich, Sam Allardyce’s side remain in the bottom three, but they have now enhanced their chances of surviving in the Premier League.

Former Tottenham and Leicester City striker Lineker has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to Sunderland’s win against Norwich.

Former Sunderland manager Terry Butcher was following the match, and he was impressed with the performance of Jan Kirchhoff.

"Kirchoff has been a real pivotal figure for Sunderland,” said Butcher on BBC Radio 5 Live (14:28).

Against Norwich, Kirchhoff, who can play as a defender or as a midfielder, took one shot, had a pass accuracy of 61%, won 25% of his headers and 100% of his headers, and made seven clearances and four blocks.
