The two sides met at Carrow Road in Saturday’s early kick off in a huge clash at the bottom of the Premier League.
It would be Sunderland that would run out as victors, as they secured a crucial 3-0 win to take them to within a point of safety.
The opening goal was the crucial one, as Andre Wisdom fouled Fabio Borini to give the Italian the chance to score from the spot, which he did.
And Borini says there can be no questions over the decision as the defender nearly broke his leg in making the challenge.
“There was no question, he almost broke my leg, it was definitely a penalty,” he told BT Sport.
“I took it how I know how to take it. But it’s not about my goal and all the rest, we showed we are Sunderland and we can beat any teams if we play football.”
Sunderland will now be hoping they can go on a strong run between now and the end of the season to secure their Premier League survival.
The fight for survival certainly appears as if it’s going to be a tight one, with Newcastle United also having given their chances a big boost.
They beat Swansea 3-0 to go within three points of safety themselves, meaning a shootout between the North East duo for survival is now looking increasingly likely.
