Derby County duo and Carlos Cuellar react on Twitter to Aston Villa relegation

Aston Villa’s defeat to Manchester United on Saturday has confirmed their relegation to the Championship.

Derby County striker Darren Bent has taken to social networking site Twitter to express his disappointment at Aston Villa’s relegation from the Premier League.

Villa’s relegation to the Championship has been officially confirmed today following their 1-0 defeat to Manchester United away from home in the Premier League.

Marcus Rashford’s goal just past the half-hour mark proved to be the difference between the two teams at Old Trafford.

Bent, who was on the books of Villa from 2011 until the end of last season, has taken to Twitter to express his disappointment.

Austria international attacker Andreas Weimann, who started his professional club football career at Villa and joined Derby in the summer of 2015, has also given his thoughts on the situation on Twitter, and so has ex-Villan Carlos Cuellar, now at Spanish club Almeria.

This is the first time that Villa have been relegated to the second tier of English football since 1987. The Villans are one of the biggest clubs of England, but they will find it tough to bounce straight back into the Premier League.
