The loss confirmed Villa's relegation to the Championship following a dismal campaign.
The Villans were beaten 1-0 by Louis van Gaal’s side on Saturday afternoon in a defeat that finally confirmed their relegation to the Championship.
It brought about an end to what has been a miserable campaign for Villa this season, in which pride in the club, and pride from the players has been sorely missing.
Lescott though, claims that he and his teammates showed just that in the loss to United, adding that their focus is now on promotion next season.
“Throughout the game we showed a level of pride that there's probably not been enough of throughout the season,” he told BBC Sport.
"It's about results so regardless of how we played in patches today we are relegated. We need to find a way to get out of this run of defeats.”
“Now it's confirmed maybe it's a weight off the shoulders and we can give these fans what they deserve, some performances. At the back of our minds is next season to get promoted.”
The problem for Aston Villa is that bouncing back to the top flight is likely to be very difficult for them next season.
The Championship is a very tough division, as a number of relegated clubs before them have discovered to their cost.
Key to their hopes will be making the right choice in their hunt for a new manager, with that looking to be one of the biggest decisions the club has had to make in a long time.
