Report: Manchester City target Bologna’s £12m midfield starlet Amadou Diawara

The Premier League side reportedly want to add Amadou Diawara to their ranks this summer.

Manchester City are hoping to tie up a deal that will see Bologna midfielder Amadou Diawara join the club for £12 million, according to reports in Il Corriere di Bologna.

The midfield destroyer has enjoyed a wonderful campaign with the Serie A side, helping them reaffirm their status in Italy’s top division following promotion through the play-offs last term.

The 18-year-old central midfielder was playing non-league football in his homeland of Guinea just two years ago but joined the northern Italian club last summer after a short spell with San Marino Calcio in the country’s lower leagues.

The huge step up to the first division has not affected Diawara’s confidence or progress, resulting in him making 30 league appearances in a consistent first season in Serie A.

According to Il Corriere di Bologna, the teenager is primed for a move to the Premier League and could be utilised as a replacement for Yaya Toure, who is expected to depart the Etihad Stadium following the arrival of Pep Guardiola.
