The Argentine has impressed his countryman this season.
The former Spurs midfielder spent ten years with the club as a player, although briefly spent time on loan with Paris Saint-Germain and Australian side St George Saints. He also returned as a manager in 1993.
He has spoken about how difficult it was to adapt to life in England this week in an interview with Noticias de Alava but also spoke about Tottenham Hotspur’s current form and title challenge.
He was gushing in his praise for his Argentine countryman, regardless of whether Spurs can go on to claim the title or not this season:
“Only The Leicester can lose. They have a very big advantage. But on the other hand I think we have to do our job, win all our remaining games, throw them pressure and, if you can win the league, win.
“But the campaign Mauricio Pochettino has done it's not good, it's quite extraordinary.”
Pochettino has certainly changed the fortunes at Spurs this season with his style of football and the way he has continued to develop the young talent at the club – just as he did during his time with Southampton previously.
Ardiles has been a massive advocate of Pochettino ever since he got the job at Spurs and this season has been a fantastic example of what a manager is capable of if given the chance to thrive at a club like Spurs.
