Liverpool showed fighting spirit akin to 2005 in Istanbul as they produced a fantastic comeback to knock Borussia Dortmund out of the Europa League.
The Reds appeared to be heading out themselves, after going 3-1 down on the night and 4-2 on aggregate.
Their defence was leaking goals against Thomas Tuchel's dangerous Dortmund side, led by star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and they needed to score three more goals to go through.
Incredibly, they did it, winning 5-4 on aggregate with Dejan Lovren scoring a dramatic injury time winner.
The result and manner of the performance caught the attention of a number of former Premier League stars, who were amazed at Liverpool's comeback.
Former Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien did battle with Liverpool several times, and while still referring to them as his 'rivals', he admitted their display deserved a big thumbs up.
Wow what a come back from Liverpool, what a game.Welldone to the Reds even though they were my rivals they deserve the win.Fairplay— Michael Essien (@MichaelEssien) April 14, 2016
Former Swansea City attacker Michu also expressed his adulation, writing simply, 'This is Anfield'.

Ex-England and Tottenham midfielder Darren Anderton was impressed, and credited James Milner with the perfect delivery to set up the winner.
Wow. Liverpool.. Well played. What a ball from Milner— Darren Anderton (@DarrenAnderton) April 14, 2016
Liverpool are now into the semi-finals of the Europa League, with a spot in next year's Champions League up for grabs for the winner.
