Celtic are due to face Rangers at Hampden Park on Sunday.
John Hartson has slated Ronny Deila on TalkSPORT programme The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show, which was broadcast on 15th April, for suggesting that Celtic’s upcoming match against Rangers was ‘just another game’.
Deila was keen to play down the magnitude of this weekend’s Old-Firm derby, which takes place at Hampden Park.
However, Hartson feels that the Norwegian boss was completely wrong in his analysis - as the match is of such importance.
“Ronny Deila said there that it’s just another game - it’s not just another game,” the former Bhoys striker stated. “The Celtic fans will be saying ‘you what!’ This game is incredible.
“Whether Ronny is just trying to play it down… I don’t know why he said it’s just another game.”
Deila’s comments may have been made to take the pressure off his Celtic side, but a defeat would be disastrous for him.
The Bhoys are heavy favourites to beat their main rivals, but Rangers are in the habit of winning this season.
Mark Warburton’s side have already done the double this term, triumphing in both the Scottish Championship and the Petrofac Challenge Cup.
If Celtic do not manage to beat Rangers, then Deila’s job could be on the line - as the 40-year-old boss’s contract at Parkhead is due to expire at the end of the season.
