Melo has not featured for Sheffield Wednesday so far this season.
Melo joined Wednesday in January 2015, but his time at Hillsborough so far has been badly disputed by injury.
The defensive midfielder made six appearances towards the back end of last campaign, but he has not even been in a match day squad this time around.
Melo picked up a knee injury back in November, which was expected to keep him out for the remainder of the season.
However, the 26-year-old has made a quick recovery, and he should now be back in training - although Carvalhal admits he will be limited in what he can do.
CC: We expect Melo to be back in training next week. He will be with some limitations but we will be happy to have him back #swfcLIVE— Sheffield Wednesday (@swfc) April 15, 2016
Carvalhal was also able to confirm that Glenn Loovens would be in contention to play against Ipswich Town at the weekend.
Loovens missed out featuring against Bristol City, after picking up a knock, but he has trained well all week.
CC: Glenn is ok, he has trained as normal and is fit to play #swfcLIVE— Sheffield Wednesday (@swfc) April 15, 2016
If Wednesday can beat Ipswich tomorrow it would strengthen their grip on a play off spot.
