Roberto Martinez says that both Leighton Baines and Aaron Lennon will face scans to assess whether they will be ready to play in Everton’s match against Southampton on Saturday.
Baines and Lennon both picked up knocks during Everton’s fixture against Crystal Palace yesterday.
And the pair will both undergo scans to discovery the extent of their fitness problems over the coming weeks.
RM: "We had some tired bodies out there but they kept going. We will assess Lennon [hamstring] and Baines [groin] ahead of Saturday." #EFC— Everton (@Everton) April 13, 2016
Everton are unlikely to risk either Baines or Lennon against Southampton if they are not fully match fit.
The Toffees have an FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United to play in two weekend’s time, and that fixture is likely to take priority.
Everton will still be under pressure to perform against Southampton, though, as they look to improve their record at Goodison Park.
The Toffees have struggled in front of their own fans this season, and it is one of the reasons why they have failed to live up to expectations.
Everton are currently in 12th place in the Premier League table, with frustrations rising amongst the club’s supporters about how this season has gone.
