According to The Telegraph, Nigel Pearson will be approached for the Aston Villa job imminently - and he wants Chris Powell as his assistant at Villa Park.
Pearson, 52, has been out of management for almost a year now having left Leicester City last summer, despite keeping the club in the Premier League.
A tough, headstrong manager who won promotion from the Championship with Leicester back in 2014, Pearson appears to have all the credentials that a struggling Villa side are looking for.
Villa recently parted ways with manager Remi Garde despite only appointing him back in November, with the club sat bottom of the Premier League table and 15 points adrift of safety with five games remaining.
The club is in total disarray, and in need of a manager just like Pearson to clear out the squad and start from scratch - and The Telegraph believe that Pearson will be approached for the job imminently, as he has emerged as the club's first choice for the job.
In fact, the report even suggests that Pearson already knows who he wants as his assistant, with former England international Chris Powell lined up for the job.
Powell played under Pearson at Leicester City between 2008 and 2010, and has been out of work since leaving his role as Huddersfield Town manager back in November.
The 46-year-old may be keen on getting back into football by taking up a coaching role at Villa, and with Pearson's former Leicester coaches set to stay at the King Power Stadium, he has allegedly turned his attention towards Powell.
