Duncan Watmore was pictured making his return to Sunderland training earlier today.
Watmore has not played since February, after he damaged his ankle ligaments in a match against Liverpool.
However, the 22-year-old appears to be on the verge of making his comeback now - just in time for Sunderland’s crucial final few fixtures.
The Black Cats are currently four points adrift of safety, but Watmore’s return to health will be a boost to their survival chances.
The forward has looked promising in his showings for the first-team this season, and he appeared to be enjoying training this morning.
Watmore could now come back into contention for Sunderland’s next fixture, which comes against Norwich City.
If Allardyce’s men are able to beat the Canaries at Carrow Road, they will reduce the gap to safety down to one point.
