Tottenham Hotspur are seven points behind Leicester City with 15 points left to play for.
Former Arsenal centre-back Martin Keown has responded when asked if he still feels Tottenham Hotspur will win the Premier League title this season, with his comments published in his weekly Daily Mail column.
Earlier this season the ex-Gunner said he felt Spurs would go on to claim the crown, but with time running out Leicester City remain firmly in control, seven points clear with just five matches remaining.
And while Keown has not gone so far as to rule out Tottenham at this stage, he has certainly been impressed by the Foxes’ ongoing good form.
“I based that prediction on three games ago and since then Leicester have gone beyond my wildest expectations,” Keown wrote in the Daily Mail.
“I expected them to draw at (Crystal) Palace and Sunderland. If Leicester win the next two games…it is going to take a great deal of resolve from Tottenham to keep winning.”
Leicester’s next two matches are against West Ham United and Swansea City and if Claudio Ranieri can guide his men to six points there Tottenham may soon have to admit defeat despite their admirable fight up to this point.
Tottenham take on Stoke City away on Monday evening in a match they cannot afford to lose.
