Derek Johnstone predicts Rangers' line-up v Celtic, suggests who should replace Forrester

Rangers legend Derek Johnstone is backing Nicky Law to replace Harry Forrester.

Rangers hero Derek Johnstone has told the Glasgow Evening Times that he thinks Nicky Law should replace Harry Forrester against Celtic.

The Gers beat Dundee 4-0 at Ibrox in the last round of the Scottish Cup, and after Celtic coasted past Morton with a 3-0 win, the two Old Firm rivals were drawn against each other in a mouthwatering semi-final clash.

Sunday's match at Hampden Park is just the second meeting between the two sides since the end of the 2011/12 season, with Celtic beating Rangers 2-0 last season - but this is a different Rangers side.

Mark Warburton has guided Rangers to the Scottish Championship title and Petrofac Training Cup, putting together an impressive team which many feel could really challenge Celtic, despite the Bhoys being top of the Scottish Premiership.

Warburton will be thinking about his line-up for Sunday's game in a bid to snatch a win, and former Rangers star Derek Johnstone has offered his line-up prediction to the Glasgow Evening Times.

Johnstone believes that Warburton will line up with his usual back line of goalkeeper Wes Foderingham, and a back four of James Tavernier, Rob Kiernan, Danny Wilson and Lee Wallace.

Further forward, Johnstone thinks Dominic Ball will sit in front of the back four, with Jason Holt and Andrew Halliday ahead of him - and then things are complicated by Harry Forrester's absence.

The attacking midfielder has suffered a hairline fracture in his leg, and with Michael O'Halloran and Billy King cup-tied, whilst Martyn Waghorn is injured, Warburton doesn't have many options to replace Forrester - but Johnstone is tipping Nicky Law to take that role.

"With Forrester out, I think Nicky will come in and play wide right," said Johnstone. "He can get forward, he works hard and he can get good deliveries into the box. I know he doesn’t usually play wide but it could be a real chance for him. He is out of contract in the summer and he will be determined to impress so hopefully, if he does play, he does well," he added.

Who do you think should replace Forrester in the Rangers side?
