Vertonghen hails Tottenham team as something special; best experience in four years

Tottenham Hotspur are still fighting for the title.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen has been speaking to the club’s official Twitter account about the feeling at the club as they bid for their first Premier League title.

While Leicester City remain seven points clear at the top of the table, Tottenham’s 3-0 win against Manchester united last time out sent an emphatic message to the Foxes – and the rest of the top flight – that Spurs are a force to be reckoned with and are not giving up the chase without a fight.

Vertonghen arrived at White Hart Lane in the summer of 2012 and he has been reflecting on his time at the club in his latest comments, indicating just how far Tottenham have come in that brief time.

“It’s my fourth season and this team is something special,” the Belgian international said. “You feel it at the training ground, at White Hart Lane, the feeling in this team and this club is the best I’ve experienced in these four years.”

Anyone who has seen Tottenham play this season will know just how far they have come under manager Mauricio Pochettino, and even if they do not manage to catch Leicester in the weeks ahead that should take nothing away from their achievements.

With the right additions in the summer the next campaign could be even better, and that is exciting for Spurs fans and neutrals alike.
