Luke Murphy was handed a start for Leeds United in their most recent fixture against Birmingham City.
Murphy dropped out of contention at Elland Road, but he has forced his way back into the team with his recent performances.
The 26-year-old was handed a start in Leeds’ most recent 2-1 win over Birmingham City, and Evans was very pleased with the display that the former Crewe Alexandra man put in.
“He’s paying us back,” Evans said. “If I’m being honest we’ve got him fitter and sharper and he’s grabbed his chance. I thought him and Toumani Diagouraga were just stunning in that first half. It’s great to see.”
Murphy has shown his ability in flashes at Elland Road, but he has failed to ever truly secure his place in the side.
Although the central midfielder has accumulated over 100 appearances in a three year stay at Elland Road, he is yet to entirely win over the Yorkshire side’s supporters.
It seems that Murphy could have a key part to play for the rest of Leeds’ season, however, as they aim to continue to move up the Championship table.
The Whites are currently in 15th place in the second tier standings, and will be eager to improve on this standing before the end of the current campaign.
