Slaven Bilic addresses rumours suggesting Dimitri Payet could leave West Ham United

West Ham United's Dimitri Payet has scored 12 goals and set-up 11 during his first season in English football.

Slaven Bilic has dismissed the rumours that PSG are interested in West Ham United attacking midfielder Dimitri Payet in the Guardian.

Payet has been one of the stars of the Premier League season this term, and already rumours are rife that one of Europe’s biggest clubs could be set to make a bid for the 29-year-old in the summer.

PSG are the latest club to be linked with the French international, but Bilic is not concerned by the speculation.

“When the players play good, there’s always going to be rumours or interest,” he said. “What should I tell him? Do I drop him or tell him to start playing bad so he’s going to stay with us for 10 years? ‘Score some own goals but then we’re going to have you for five years.’”

West Ham’s owners have constantly denied that they will lose Payet in the summer transfer window for a cheap fee.

The Hammers have great ambitions for the future and they see Payet as central to their plans.

The powerful midfielder has looked perfectly at ease with English football this season, after joining from Marseille last summer, and he has already become a fans’ favourite at Upton Park.

Payet has scored 12 goals and created 11 during his 32 appearances in all competitions this term.
