Sam Field explains what Tony Pulis told him and Tyler Roberts about potential West Brom debuts

The West Bromwich Albion youngster has been told to keep his head down and work hard.

West Bromwich Albion youngster Sam Field has been speaking to the club’s official website about a recent conversation he had with Baggies boss Tony Pulis.

The 17-year-old was part of the travelling party for the Premier League clash with Manchester City last weekend, but when it came to selecting the match-day squad Pulis opted against calling on Field and fellow teenager Tyler Roberts.

Both players are tipped to have bright futures at The Hawthorns but while Roberts has previously been named on the bench for West Brom, Field will have to wait a little longer for that particular honour.

Speaking to wba.co.uk about Pulis, Field said, “He told me and Tyler in the changing room that we wouldn’t be involved in the squad but then he pulled us to one side and told us how he really likes us and that if we keep working hard and if we keep our heads down there might be a chance for us at the end of the season or early next season.”

Field is a 17-year-old midfielder who has featured 15 times for West Brom’s under-21s to date, and after a string of impressive performances at that level it is no surprise Pulis is considering rewarding him with his senior debut sooner rather than later.

Next up for West Brom is a home league game against Watford on Saturday followed by a trip to Arsenal the following Thursday.
