Rio Ferdinand's response asked who he wants to win West Ham United v Manchester United

West Ham Upton Park

West Ham United are set to take on Manchester United in FA Cup action later this evening.

Rio Ferdinand has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 13th April, that victory tonight would be more important for West Ham United than Manchester United.

West Ham are set to meet the Red Devils at Upton Park later this evening in the final FA Cup match to ever be staged at their home ground.

The Hammers are desperate to book their place in the semi-finals, but Ferdinand, who represented both clubs in his playing days, feels that Manchester United need to progress more.

The Red Devils have badly disappointed this season, with the FA Cup their last chance of winning silverware.

And when Ferdinand was asked who he wanted to win this evening’s match, he said: “Manchester United need it more - for the club.

“The way it is at the moment, it doesn’t seem like it’s in a great place.

"It’s not that I want them to win, but I think they need it more.”

West Ham go into the match with more positivity around the club, as they appear to be moving forward.

Slaven Bilic has got the Hammers competing for the top four this season, and the future is looking very bright.

For United, the opposite is true. Louis van Gaal’s side have put in some terrible performances this term, and another defeat this evening would ensure that this campaign would have to be viewed as a major disappointment.
