West Ham United are currently competing for a place in Europe.
Rio Ferdinand has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 13th April, that Slaven Bilic has told him that he wants to keep West Ham United’s current squad together.
West Ham have had to deal with losing some of their best players in recent times - but they have the financial power to compete with clubs across Europe.
And Ferdinand believes that Bilic is determined to keep West Ham’s team together for future years, as they look to move forward as a club.
“When I was here we had the potential to go on and do well, but the squad was never kept together,” he said.
“You’d like to hope and think that this squad will grow together. Speaking to Slaven, as I do, he’s thinking along those lines and it’s really positive. It’s all pointing the right direction.”
West Ham are likely to have to fend off interest in some of their key players in the summer transfer window, with Dimitri Payet bound to be in-demand.
Payet has already been linked with PSG in the Daily Mail, and interest is only set to rise further.
However, the club’s owners have constantly stated that they will not be looking to sell their players on the cheap, as they have big plans for the future.
West Ham have gone on record to state their desire to become a club who become one of the leading contenders to qualify for the Champions League, and they are set to move into the Olympic Stadium next term to help them achieve this aim.
