PFA Awards: Furious Tottenham fans react on Twitter to Eric Dier's shock absence

Tottenham fans can't believe Eric Dier isn't nominated for Young Player of the Year.

As reported by BBC Sport earlier today, the PFA Award nominees have been announced for the 2015/16 season, with title contenders dominating the nominations.

For the Player of the Year award, three Leicester City stars have been named, with Jamie Vardy, N'Golo Kante and Riyad Mahrez all in contention after stunning seasons.

Harry Kane, Mesut Ozil and Dimitri Payet are also in the running in the six-man shortlist, and whilst few would disagree with those selections, the Young Player of the Year award nominations have been met with bemusement.

Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland, Tottenham duo Kane and Dele Alli, Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho and Everton duo Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley are all up for the award, but one notable absentee is Eric Dier.

The 22-year-old has been a revelation for Spurs since switching into holding midfield, and the England international has been a key player in Tottenham's push for the title this season.

Bizarrely though, Dier hasn't been nominated for the award, and Tottenham fans have been making their feelings known on Twitter throughout the day.

Fans can't believe that the likes of Barkley and Coutinho - who have been inconsistent this term - have been nominated ahead of the consistently excellent Dier, with fans branding it 'a joke', 'pathetic' and 'bemusing'.

Here are some of the reactions from Spurs fans after Dier wasn't nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year award...
