Leicester City second favourites to sign £32m Liverpool striker Christian Benteke

Only West Ham are priced at shorter odds than Leicester to sign Christian Benteke.

Former Liverpool defender Phil Thompson told SkySports this week he believes Christian Benteke's career at Liverpool is 'all but over'.

Benteke has failed to win the trust of manager Jurgen Klopp, who when required, has preferred to start midfielder Roberto Firmino up front than the former Aston Villa man.

Liverpool spent £32 million on Benteke last summer, and it remains to be seen whether they can recoup this money if they cut their losses.

The Mirror reported last month that West Ham are keen on signing Benteke this summer, and they are due to this, the bookies favourites to sign him.

Behind the Hammers, it gets interesting, with Premier League leaders Leicester City listed as second favourites to sign the Belgian, priced with SkyBet at 8/1.

Newcastle and West Brom are both priced at 12/1, although the Toon can be discounted if they are relegated to the Championship.

Benteke would be an interesting addition for Leicester, and could potentially thrive on the crosses of Marc Albrighton.

He would be able to take the pressure of Jamie Vardy, and if Leicester are forced to cash in one of their top stars like Ngolo Kante or Riyad Mahrez, then financially a deal will get even easier for a team which has already qualified for next season's Champions League.
