Leeds United fans react on Twitter to Alex Mowatt's performance and red card

Alex Mowatt's poor season continued for Leeds and now he faces a spell on the sidelines.

Nothing seems to be going Alex Mowatt's way at present.

The midfielder had played just an hour of the last three games combined after losing his starting spot, and now after a late red card against Birmingham City he faces a suspension.

Mowatt was sent off in injury time as Leeds tried to close the game out for a 2-1 victory for a late challenge on Ryan Shotton.

Head coach Steve Evans told BBC Radio Leeds he intended to appeal the decision.

It would be symptomatic of Mowatt's season if the appeal is unsuccessful, with little going his way.

Last season under Neil Redfearn he won an awards double for the club's player of the year and young player of the year, but this time around he is unlikely to even be in the running for either.

Steve Evans has struggled to find a fixed position for him in the starting XI, and now Mowatt could have three games out of the side if his suspension is upheld.

Even before the red card Mowatt had struggled to make an impact as Birmingham fought back into the game - and touched the ball only seven times after coming on in the 68th minute, attempting one shot which landed off target.

His red card and performance brought about a mixed reaction. Here is a look at what Leeds fans had to say on Twitter...
