Aston Villa legend Ian Taylor has told the Daily Star that he thinks Premier League clubs will be interested in signing Jack Grealish this summer.
Villa are set for relegation to the Championship, as the club currently lie 15 points from safety with just five games remaining, with a dismal season finally coming to an end.
With two managers gone this season and just three Premier League wins, Villa are preparing a full-scale overhaul, with players and staff set to leave the club this summer.
Few players will be touted for Premier League returns, but playmaker Jack Grealish is one player who could draw some interest from top flight clubs.
Grealish, 20, has come up through the ranks with his boyhood club, and he starred at the end of last season under Tim Sherwood, becoming the driving force behind Villa's push to survival.
This season though, the midfielder has drifted in and out of the team, starting just nine Premier League games in something of a wasted season for Grealish.
However, he is a player of undoubted talent, and simply needs a manager who can keep him focused on playing and help him develop. Now, Villa legend Ian Taylor has looked at what could happen with Grealish this summer.
Speaking to the Daily Star, Taylor has suggested that Grealish's agent will be pushing for a summer departure, with Premier League clubs no doubt interested in his signature.
Taylor however believes that Grealish should stay at Villa and play regularly in the Championship next season, as he's some way from being the finished article at Villa Park.
"You can bet your bottom dollar his agent will be trying to get him out and I think there would be some Premier League clubs who would take him," said Taylor. "It could be the case that nobody could afford him at the price Villa would want for someone who essentially has done nothing yet."
"He needs to just concentrate on playing for Villa and the rest will come. A year in the Championship could be the making of him. If I was Jack, I wouldn’t move anywhere. He could be a top, top player but he needs to play regularly. We’ve seen glimpses of what he can do but that’s all. He’s nowhere near the finished article," he added.
