Former Newcastle United defender Stuart Pearce explained the importance of the upcoming Premier League game between Norwich City and Sunderland on the Sky Sports Now show on Sky Sports News HQ on Monday morning (broadcast from 10am).
Both Norwich and Sunderland are fighting for survival in the Premier League, and the two sides will face each other at Carrow Road on Saturday afternoon.
“I think this next game coming up for them (Norwich) is the key game,” said the Englishman on the Sky Sports Now show on Sky Sports News HQ on Monday morning (broadcast from 10am).
“I think if they beat Sunderland, they will stay up. If Sunderland win there, I think they will go down. Simple as that.”
Norwich are 17th in the Premier League table at the moment with 31 points from 33 matches.
The Canaries are four points above Sunderland, who are currently third from bottom in the standings and have a game in hand.
Alex Neil’s side’s recent results and performances have been encouraging, and they will certainly fancy their chances of winning against Sunderland, especially at home.
A defeat could prove costly for Norwich, but that would still keep them a point clear of Sunderland, although the Black Cats will have a game in hand.
