Liverpool will take on German club Dortmund in the second leg of the quarter-final tie at Anfield on Thursday evening.
The first leg of the tie at the Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund last week finished in a 1-1 draw.
Former Arsenal and Celtic forward Nicholas believes that Merseyside outfit Liverpool will win the quarter-final tie on penalties.
“Divock Origi initially looked as though he was out of his depth but he has now bypassed Christian Benteke and maybe even Daniel Sturridge and, with Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho back, there's a really good competitive edge among them now,” the former Scotland international told Sky Sports. “However, they are still vulnerable at the back and you imagine Dortmund's frontmen will take advantage if they have another bad night.
“The Anfield faithful are patient enough to know what direction this team is going in and because of that I think they'll help keep this tie wide open with a fantastic atmosphere even if their side go behind.”
A footnote added: “Charlie predicts: Liverpool to win on penalties.”
Dortmund have a much better team than Liverpool, but the Premier League outfit have home advantage as the second leg is at Anfield.
Having got an away goal, Jurgen Klopp’s side will know that they can heap pressure on the Bundesliga outfit if they score first at Anfield.
Liverpool’s recent performances and results have been encouraging, and the fans should be confident of the team winning the tie and progressing to the semi-finals of the Europa League this season.
