Everton are expected to invest heavily in the summer transfer window.
Everton are expected to invest heavily in their squad at the next opportunity, following the investment of Farhad Moshiri.
However, Martinez does not want the thought of new recruits distracting him for the task at hand, and he insists that his full focus is still on Everton’s remaining games this season.
“You work in 10 months to be in this stage of the season,” he said. “The focus now goes into the games that we’re facing.
“As a football club we always work from window to window. It’s not a case of trying to plan something out of the way that we work. If you’ve seen in the last six windows, we always take advantage of that and we always want to improve the squad, but at the moment all that matters is the football side.”
Everton have little left to play for in the Premier League this season, but the pressure is on Martinez to deliver some positive results.
Calls for him to be sacked are growing louder by the game, and he cannot afford to allow their poor run of form to continue for much longer if he is to stay in the job.
Everton are currently in 14th place in the Premier League table, and it may only be their success in the cups that is keeping Martinez in the job.
Everton made it through to the League Cup semi-final before being beaten by Manchester City.
Martinez’s side are also still in the FA Cup, and they will meet the winners of Manchester United’s clash with West Ham United in the semi-final at Wembley.
