Well-known sports presenter Richard Keys has predicted on his website that Newcastle United will get relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
Newcastle are second from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment and are in danger of going down.
The Magpies are struggling for wins at the moment, and former Sky Sports presenter Keys believes that Rafael Benitez’s side are going to get relegated.
With Aston Villa virtually relegated from the Premier League, Keys believes that Crystal Palace are safe, and has claimed that either Sunderland or Norwich City will find themselves in the Championship next season.
“I am sorry for Villa fans,” the Englishman wrote on his website. “It has been an awful season, but the re-building starts now. That's the only consolation.
“I'm convinced the Toon are going. Geordie fans also have my sympathy. I've been critical of Mike Ashley previously, but the current shambles has to fall on the toes of Lee Charnley. Time to go time Lee.
“It's either Sunderland or Norwich now isn't it? Palace will find another win somewhere and they're all safe above them.”
Newcastle still have a chance of escaping the drop as they have a game in hand, but their recent performances and results suggest that the situation is bleak for them.
Norwich and Sunderland will face each other at Carrow Road in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, and the game could be decisive in the relegation battle.
Palace have picked up 37 points from 32 matches, 10 more than third-from-bottom Sunderland, and Alan Pardew’s side should be safe now.
