Spurs are seven points behind Leicester City with five games remaining.
Mauricio Pochettino's men have got an enormous task on their hands if they hope to catch the Foxes as they go into the final five games of the season seven points adrift of Claudio Ranieri's men.
However, Spurs answered the question of how they would handle the pressure of the title race as they thrashed Manchester United 3-0 just hours after Leicester had extended their lead at the top of the table to 10 points following their win over Sunderland.
And Lamela suggested that that victory over Louis van Gaal's side has given them the belief that the race is not over just yet.
"We still believe. We knew before the United game that Leicester had won but we still played a great game. Our task is to win all the remaining games," he told the London Evening Standard.
While Pochettino's side have a fairly challenging run-in - with three of their remaining games coming against teams in the top half - the performance against the Red Devils, and the way that they put the game beyond doubt minutes after opening the scoring would have given them huge confidence that they can achieve the perfect record that Lamela believes may give them a chance.
And with Leicester still having to play West Ham, United and Chelsea before the season's conclusion, there may be another twist in store before the Foxes can get their hands on the trophy.
