BBC pundit says he has changed his mind about Liverpool due to this player

Liverpool duo Divock Origi and Alberto Moreno are in Garth Crooks’s Premier League Team of the Week for BBC Sport for their performances against Stoke City at the weekend.

Former Tottenham Hotspur and West Bromwich Albion forward Garth Crooks has told BBC Sport that he has changed his mind about Liverpool and the Europa League.

Crooks has admitted that he did not think that Liverpool would win the Europa League this season with Divock Origi leading the line, but the young striker’s performance at the weekend has made him re-evaluate that..

The 20-year-old striker scored twice in the Reds’ 4-1 victory over Stoke City at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday evening.

Crooks has included the Belgium international in his Premier League Team of the Week for BBC Sport.

“I was amazed that manager Jurgen Klopp selected Divock Origi ahead of Daniel Sturridge and Roberto Firmino against Borussia Dortmund,” the former Tottenham and West Brom man told BBC Sport. “However, his plan worked. Not only that: This youngster is looking better by the minute.

“Against Stoke, he took his goals brilliantly but the confidence he is displaying suggests that Klopp believes this could be the real deal. I had real reservations about Liverpool winning the Europa League with Origi leading the line but I think I am going to have to revise my position.”

Crooks has also named Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno in his Premier League Team of the Week for BBC Sport.

Origi has scored four goals and created nine chances in 14 Premier League matches for Liverpool so far this season.

The former Lille youngster has scored one goal and created four chances in 10 Europa League matches for the Reds so far this campaign.
