Leicester City fans react on Twitter after qualifying for the Champions League

Leicester City will be playing in Europe’s elite competition next season.

Leicester City fans have taken to social networking site Twitter after securing Champions League football.

The Foxes have been absolutely fantastic this season, starting the campaign as 5000-1 outsiders to win the Premier League title and now standing within five matches of completing the dream.

After spending much of last season at the bottom of the table and ultimately narrowly avoiding relegation, nobody in their wildest dreams would have predicted what was to come for Leicester.

Claudio Ranieri’s side’s 2-0 victory over Sunderland, their sixth in seven matches, maintains their seven-point gap at the top of the Premier League table with only five matches remaining.

Tottenham Hotspur are in pursuit in second, and their 3-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday meant that both themselves and Leicester have guaranteed Champions League football for next season.

Leicester taking on the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich in Europe’s elite competition is the stuff of dreams, especially as this time two years ago they were facing Yeovil Town in the Championship.

The journey has been nothing short of miraculous, and there is a growing sensation that it has not quite finished just yet as the East Midlands club hone in on what will be their first ever top-flight title.

Taking to social media site Twitter following the weekend results, Leicester fans are naturally ecstatic.
