Andy Carroll scored a hat-trick in his latest appearance for West Ham United.
The Hammers take on Manchester United in an FA Cup quarter-final replay against Manchester United on Wednesday.
And Pearce believes that Carroll will have a key part to play if Slaven Bilic’s side are to book their place at Wembley, as he gives them a different option in an attacking sense.
“He certainly has given West Ham another option - with regards to his heading ability,” Pearce said.
“If West Ham are to go on and win the FA Cup this year, he’s going to have to play a big part.”
Carroll has found it difficult to break into West Ham’s first-team this season, but he proved his value against Arsenal last weekend.
The powerful striker scored a hat-trick against the Gunners on Saturday, as West Ham picked up a 3-3 draw with their London rivals.
That point has kept West Ham’s hopes of claiming a Champions League qualification space alive, but Bilic has already stated that he would rather win the FA Cup than finish in the top four.
The winners of West Ham’s match against Manchester United in midweek will go on to face Everton in the semi-final.
