The Arsenal midfielder is battling his way back from his latest long term injury.
The midfielder has missed the whole of this season, having picked up an injury on the eve of the campaign.
He is now back in full training though, pushing hard to feature for his side before the end of the season, and more importantly sneak into England’s squad for Euro 2016.
And he says he is feeling good, but is not quite at the stage to feature in the first-team just yet.
“I felt good. It is nice to be back at Emirates Stadium and play my first game,” he told arsenal.com.
“I know that I’m not there yet, not quite ready to play in the first-team but it is another step closer to my fitness.
“You can train as much as you want, but the toughest thing is getting competition ready with the players and this all helps.”
A big boost for Wilshere’s England hopes will have been the recent injury to Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson.
The Reds midfielder is now a serious doubt for the tournament in France having picked up a knee injury in his side’s 1-1 draw with Borussia Dortmund.
He was one of the men Wilshere would have been competing with for a place in the 23-man squad, with a number of stars staking serious claims for their chance.
Henderson’s injury opens up a slot though, and Wilshere will be keen to make it his before the end of the season.
