Richard Keys suggests Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez has made a mistake by making these comments

Rafael Benitez has failed to win any of his first four matches as Newcastle United manager.

Richard Keys has suggested that Rafael Benitez has made an error with his latest comments as Newcastle United manager.

Benitez publicly questioned his players commitment levels, after they were beaten 3-1 by Southampton last weekend.

And Keys feels Benitez's comments were misplaced, as he fears that they could turn the dressing room against him at a crucial point of the season.

Newcastle have failed to win any of their first four matches under Benitez’s guidance.

The Spanish boss has not had the desired impact at St. James’ Park, and the North East side’s poor form has continued.

Newcastle have looked very vulnerable at the back in recent weeks, and they have failed to win any of their last seven Premier League matches.

This terrible run of results has made their chances of surviving the drop even slimmer, with the Tynesiders currently in 19th place.

Newcastle have a six-point gap to make up if they are to make it out of the relegation zone, with their next fixture coming against Swansea City.
