Report: Aston Villa have considered Brendan Rodgers

Aston Villa are on the hunt for a new manager following the departure of Remi Garde.

According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Aston Villa have mentioned the possibility of Brendan Rodgers becoming their next manager - but they believe he has better offers.

Villa are looking for a new manager to take them forward, following the departure of Remi Garde last month.

The French boss left Villa with the side cut adrift at the bottom of the Premier League table, but his departure has not sparked any improvement in the Midlands side’s form.

Eric Black is currently in temporary charge of Villa, but he has lost every match he has been in charge of so far.

As a result the Claret and Blues are now sat 15 points adrift of safety, and their relegation to the Championship is in inevitability.

Villa are reportedly in no rush to appoint a new manager, but they know the importance of getting their next selection right.

Rodgers was considered, but quickly dismissed, as Villa are not convinced they would be able to persuade the former Liverpool boss. Instead, it is believed that David Moyes and Nigel Pearson are the two managers at the top of Villa’s managerial wishlist.
