Neil McCann slates Aston Villa's players' attitudes

Aston Villa are currently 15 points adrift of safety in the Premier League table.

Neil McCann has told Sky Sports News, which was broadcast on 11th April, that Aston Villa’s players’ attitudes have been unacceptable this season.

Villa have collected just 16 points in the Premier League, and they currently sit at the bottom of the standings.

The Claret and Blues have won just three matches all season, and they are destined to be relegated into the Championship.

Many things have gone wrong for Villa this season, but McCann says that their players’ lack of effort is particularly worthy of criticism.

“The fans are disengaged from the team and when that happens it can be so difficult,” McCann said. “One thing which has been levelled at the players is that they’re not giving their all, which isn’t acceptable.”

Stuart Pearce also took a negative view on Villa’s season, suggesting that they have looked doomed for months.

Villa have failed to perform under three different managers this season, with their lack of fight causing particular annoyance at Villa Park.

"This season Villa have been relegated for months upon months," Pearce said. "Not mathematically, but with the spirit within the football club. It needs a real rebuilding job and they’re going to have to start now for next year."

The Villains are already planning for next season now, with their managerial search still ongoing.

At the moment Eric Black is in temporary charge, but he is not expected to have the job beyond the end of this campaign.

Nigel Pearson and David Moyes are amongst the favourites to become Villa’s next manager on a permanent basis.
