The teenager is currently on loan at Lincoln City from Leeds United.
The 19-year-old scored in a 2-1 victory against Chester on Saturday, meaning he now has three goals in 13 appearances since temporarily leaving Elland Road, and he was quick to express his delight with a social media post.
“It’s not anger, it’s passion,” the Leeds youngster wrote in a caption accompanying an image of him directly after his vital strike. “Good three points today and another goal.”
McDaid is one of a number of exciting young forwards coming through the ranks at Leeds right now, with Frank Mulhern and Eoghan Stokes currently making waves at under-21 level and summer signing Lee Erwin also expected to have a bright future at the club.
McDaid will know this loan spell will go a long way to proving if he is ready for the step up at Elland Road, and if he keeps scoring for Lincoln, Whites manager Steve Evans may sit up and take notice.
That said, with additions likely to be made up front this summer McDaid will know the challenge to break through could be tougher than ever.
