Ian Wright has told The Sun Goals Podcast that he doubts many of Everton’s players actually want to play under Roberto Martinez.
Wright has previously suggested that Martinez should be sacked as Everton manager, as he has failed to get the maximum out of the squad.
And Wright now says that the Toffees could be set to lose players in the summer, even though they have more funds following a takeover bid.
“If I’m Lukaku I say what more can I do,” Wright said. “We’ll have to see what will happen with the new takeover, but I don’t think many of them will be hanging about wanting to play under him.”
Everton fans unfurled banners suggesting that Martinez should be sacked during their most recent match against Watford.
The Toffees supporters have grown frustrated with the Spaniard’s inability to sort out their defensive issues and there has even been murmurings of discontent from the players recently.
Both Gareth Barry and Leighton Baines have spoken about their disappointment over Everton’s season recently.
And Wright said: “They’re experienced players. For the manager to not take that on board because of the players on board, you have to say that maybe he’s starting to breath different air.”
Everton are currently in 14th place in the Premier League table, but they are still in with a chance of winning the FA Cup.
