Everton winger Gerard Deulofeu criticises his own performance against Watford

Everton could only manage a 1-1 draw against Watford in their most recent match.

Gerard Deulofeu has told Everton’s official site that he was short of his best against Watford last weekend.

Deulofeu was selected to start at Vicarage Road, but he failed to make the desired impact during the contest.

The Spanish winger was on the periphery of the match and, by his own admission, he did not create much for the other attacking players in Everton’s side.

Deulofeu is convinced that his best form will come back to him before the end of the season, however, as he looks to regain some match sharpness.

“I think against Watford, in the final third, I didn’t pass enough good balls to Rom or to Aaron,” he admitted.

“But I did some good movements and I am feeling better. It was my second game after being with the national team and I hope in the final weeks of the season I can play much better and help the team.”

Deulofeu dropped out of favour at Everton over the early part of 2016, but he seems to have forced his way back into the side now.

He will be aiming to secure his place, as Everton aim to finish their Premier League season strongly and try to win the FA Cup.

Everton are currently in 14 place in England’s top flight, and they have work to do to improve that position.

The Toffees will also face the winners of Manchester United’s match against West Ham United in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley before the end of this month.
