BBC pundit has a clear idea about Rafael Benitez’s Newcastle future

Garth Crooks does not expect Rafael Benitez to be in charge of Newcastle United if he fails to keep them in the Premier League.

Former Tottenham Hotspur and West Bromwich Albion forward Garth Crooks predicted on the Final Score show on BBC One on Saturday afternoon (April 9) that he does not expect Rafael Benitez to remain in charge of Newcastle United next season if the club get relegated to the Championship.

Crooks made the prediction following Newcastle’s 3-1 defeat to Southampton away from home at St. Mary’s Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

“No,” said Crooks on the Final Score show on BBC One on Saturday afternoon (April 9) when asked if Benitez would stay at Newcastle if they go down.

“It’s not matter of whether he wants to or not. I think the offers elsewhere around Europe would be too great. I think he is a manager in demand. His record’s too good for that.”

Benitez is a top-class manager, and it will have come as a surprise to many that he decided to take charge of Newcastle in the first place.

The Spaniard will probably not be interested in managing in the Championship, especially as he has been in charge of teams such as Real Madrid, Liverpool and Chelsea in his career.

The former Valencia and Napoli coach could get some good offers from top teams in Europe at the end of the season.

Newcastle are second from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment, and there is a very good chance that they will get relegated to the Championship
