Liverpool defeated Stoke City 4-1 this weekend.
Yet it did not make much of a difference to the outcome, as Liverpool dominated the visitors from the off and created numerous chances as Alberto Moreno, Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi (2) all netted.
Writing on Twitter after the game, Mellor was impressed with his former side and made special reference to Ojo who the pundit believes has an extremely bright future in the game.
A decent win for LFC after making plenty of changes and sounded very comfortable. The Ojo assist sounds a bit special.— Neil Mellor (@NeilMellor33) April 10, 2016
Made up to see Ojo starting for LFC.A young lad with loads of potential. Very exciting player in the final 1/3 who makes things happen.— Neil Mellor (@NeilMellor33) April 10, 2016
Ojo joined Liverpool from MK Dons when he was only 14, a deal which attracted a lot of attention.
The now 18-year-old began playing for the Liverpool youth teams before enjoying spells at Wigan Athletic and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Championship on loan.
Likened to fellow wingers Raheem Sterling and Jordon Ibe, Ojo made his first start for the Reds in the Premier League against Stoke and he did not disappoint as he looked lively and confident.
The England under-19 international made one key pass, one successful take-on and one assist before coming off at half-time for two-goal hero Divock Origi in a tactical change.
