Hull City's Mo Diame suggests he will leave if promotion is not secured

Hull City are in the race for promotion to the Premier League.

Hull City midfielder Mohamed Diame has suggested he will leave the KC Stadium in the summer if the club fail to win promotion back to the Premier League at the first attempt, the Sun reports.

The Tigers looked set for a return to the Premier League in mid-February as five wins in six Championship matches saw them open up a gap at the top of the table.

However, a run of just one win in their last eight matches has seen Steve Bruce’s side slip to fourth in the table, some nine points adrift of Middlesbrough and the top two with only six games remaining.

As quoted by the Sun, midfielder Mo Diame has issued a warning to the club by telling reporters he will return to the top-flight with or without Hull, stating: “I will return to the Premier League.”

The former West Ham United man joined Hull in the summer of 2014, signing a three-year contract.

He has been a mainstay in Bruce’s side ever since, scoring seven goals and adding a further four assists in 34 Championship encounters so far this season.

Despite Derby County and Boro spending the most in transfer fees last summer, many still predicted Hull to be the most likely to return to the top flight as they retained a number of good players from last season.

However, wastefulness in front of goal has been their problem for much of the campaign and a failure to break teams down, especially on their travels, has seen them fade away at the wrong time of the season.
