Sunderland and Leicester City went head-to-head this weekend.
Sunderland fell to a 2-0 defeat against Premier League leaders Leicester City this weekend as Sam Allardyce’s side failed to get what would have been a vital three points on the board.
The Black Cats are fighting for their top-flight future and next week’s six-pointer against Norwich City could now make or break their campaign.
Sunderland impressed against the Foxes for much of the encounter, but once Jamie Vardy had broken the deadlock with 66 minutes on the clock the result was only going one way.
With Sunderland full-back Patrick van Aanholt neglecting his defensive duties in favour of bombing forward in search of an equaliser, Vardy netted his second and Allardyce was left to rue a missed opportunity.
Van Aanholt has been one of Sunderland’s standout players for much of the campaign but he did his side no favours this weekend.
In what was his 31st appearance of the season, the Dutchman left his side exposed against a player whose pace has torn defences to shreds time and again this season.
After the match we took to Twitter to see what Sunderland fans thought of van Aanholt’s latest performance and you can read a selection of what we found below:

And once again, Van Aanholt... Well... Yeah... Van Aanholt. #SAFC

Van Aanholt could probably beat Vardy in a race but does that instead. Aye.— Sean (@sozmarra) April 10, 2016
