The Argentine has been impressive for Slaven Bilic's side this season.
The young Argentine has been sensational for the Hammers this season, originally joining on loan from Al Jazira as a relative unknown.
His performances have impressed to the extend the club have moved quickly to secure him for the long term, with him turning his move into a permanent one and signing a four year deal.
And while Dimitri Payet has took most of the plaudits this season, Thompson has been impressed by Lanzini’s displays as well.
“Isn’t it terrific this West Ham side we’re seeing now?” he told Soccer Saturday.
“They’ve got Payet, but the boy Lanzini is terrific. He glides around the pitch. Across the midfield areas he gets it, he goes past people, he sees a passes and he scores goals. This is all great for West Ham fans.”
Lanzini again proved his quality in Saturday’s draw with Arsenal as he posted a series of impressive stats.
While Andy Carroll bagged a hattrick, and the headlines, the Argentine was another top performer in a scintillating London derby.
He managed 67 touches, 50 accurate passes, two key passes and enjoyed an overall passing accuracy of 97 per cent in another eye catching display.
The Hammers will be hoping he, and the likes of Payet, can continue that kind of form for the rest of the season as they eye a top four place and Champions League football.
